Allegra D Uses, Side Effects and review

Allegra D Active ingredient fexofenadine is an over the counter antihistamine drug used to balance the effect of natural production of excessive histamine in our body. Allergic reactions such as rashes, hives sneezing, running nose and watery eyes are the result of excessive production of histamine in our body.

Allegra D is used for fighting seasonal allergies ( Hay fever and upper respiratory allergies) for children and adults. Children's Allegra comes in liquid form and should be used as per direction. In no case should you administer more than 40 ml during a period of 24 hours. Normally 2 table spoon ( 20 ml) should be administered with cold water at an interval of 12 hours. for children between 2 years to 12 years a single table spoon ( not more than 5 ml) should be administered at an interval of 12 hours.

Children's Allegra liquid should not be used for children below the age of 2 years.

Allegra D Side Effects

Nausea , muscle pain, tiredness, upset stomach, menstrual cramps, drowsiness are some of the not so serious side effects associated with the use of Allegra D.  In case of any serious side effects such as hives, rashes, swelling of lips, face or tongue, problem of breathing on using Allegra D , stop using it immediately and consult a doctor. In case of any serious effects not listed here, it is advisable to stop using the drug and consult a doctor immediately.


Patients suffering from liver disease and kidney problems should consult a doctor before using Allegra. Consult a doctor if your are pregnant or lactating. Don't use the medicine without prior consulting a doctor if your are suffering from blood pressure, diabetes or any other hereditary medical situation.
